HEL of an Airport deserves a stand worthy of its attitude. Proud, edgy, smooth, open and friendly - and, above all, Finnish.

World Routes is one of the most important meeting forums of the air travel industry. The event aims to facilitate meetings between airports and airlines, and to create opportunities for networking. Differentiating oneself from competitors is important, and this can be done by showcasing the airport and destination. For Finavia, the goal was to build a stand reflective of its airports: easy access, comfortable and extremely functional.

As Finavia’s main objective at the exhibition was to present Finland as a destination, we wanted to build a stand that offered a multisensorial Finnish experience. Finland was showcased to visitors through Finnish design, flavours, and exotic soundscapes.

The most impressive element was the huge LED screen curving over the stand and displaying glorious Finnish scenery. Visitors could view it – as they would a skylight – from below, and a large amount of time was spent planning the content.

“The impressive video landscapes created a fantastic atmosphere for the entire stand,” says Finavia’s Marketing Manager Anna Tuomi. The screen invited visitors to pause for a moment and admire the four seasons.

The stand conveys values and attitudes

Another goal for the stand was to show how much Helsinki Airport is investing in the future, and how the airport will grow in the years to come. Visitors got a peek at the future through VR headsets. This solidified Finavia’s role as a reliable and attractive partner in the eyes of new airlines.

The set-up supported Finavia’s image as a pioneering and trustworthy partner. The stand was designed to be open and welcoming and to offer a smooth client experience. “The unpretentious and open ‘shaded kiosk’ design created a welcoming feeling, which reflects Finavia’s values”, says Tuomi.

“The stand received a great deal of attention and praise. I believe we will be seeing similar stands in next year’s exhibition,” Tuomi chuckles.
